The Nike Cortez is no doubt one of the most bare-bones of Nike’s retro models, born during the first wave of innovation from Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight as they broke out from their Onitsuka Tiger affiliation. The sneaker has enjoyed a long lifespan bolstered by big screen appearances, with Forrest Gump famously repping a pair and George Costanza rocking them on the regular. The latest retro treatment is above and beyond the standard fare, with the nike kd vii action red metallic silver going for the fine leather look in place of nylon uppers.
