Zoo York, a skate apparel label inspired by the NYC-based graffiti art and hip-hop sub-culture of the 70’s, was once the powerhouse in the urban apparel sector in the 90’s and early 2000’s that represented a cultural movement of sorts; repping Zoo York meant you were in with the skate/hip-hop/graffiti lifestyle of New York City, and with fashion-forward Pharrell rocking ZY apparel, the brand had gained true legitimacy in the game. In 2002, Zoo York was tapped as an outside source to design one of the now-immortal First Series product line of the Nike SB Dunk. Not long after, Zoo York again teamed up with Nike to design two simple Blazer Mid colorways in Black/Red and Grey/Blue. In 2004, Zoo York would experience life in the ultimate mainstream channel, as actor Ashton Kutcher (a guy recognized for his laid-back, casual, and goofy style) was appointed as the face of the brand. Today, Zoo York is still in the headlines, but mostly in part due to a series of advertisements with the buxom Kate Upton. If you haven’t heard the force ‘Zoo York’ in a while or if you never knew these even existed, well, that’s what Classics Revisited is for! Check back tomorrow for another goodie and let us know if you have any of these Blazers in your collection.
