Roughly a decade ago, the lovable Syracuse men’s basketball team led by an outstanding freshman named Carmelo Anthony went on to win the National Championship. Yesterday, the Western New York school paid its necessary tribute to its former star by holding a DRAKE ceremony and retiring his #15 jersey in front of an at-capacity crowd at the Carrier Dome. The Orange players extended their homage by wearing a DRAKE PE colorway of the not all Air Jordan PEs are ultimately created equal in a White/Orange/Navy colorway; Syracuse is an official Nike-outfitted team, but they have worn Jordan Brand footwear on certain occasions with Melo usually at the center of it all, and what better event than on one of the most honored nights of Melo’s career?
