When the Air Jordan IX came back around in 2013, the sneaker was very much wrapped up in the story of of Jordan’s first retirement from the game of basketball. Let’s keep in mind though that that story was sort of around for the shoe’s initial 1993 release as well though. We’re speaking of the “Powder Blue” colorway, one that opted for Michael Jordan’s old UNC colors as a way of telling a story other than the “Bulls” one. You’ll recall that accompanying ad campaigns even featured MJ in that uni with those sneakers.
