LeBron James’ NBA career thus far has been nothing janoski of stellar, but his endeavors off the court might take him higher than he’s ever gone with basketball. Earlier this year he launched Uninterrupted, a media platform that, in janoski, gives professional athletes the opportunity to tell their stories completely unfiltered by traditional media outlets (ESPN, Yahoo!, etc.) for an honest, candid look at the human side of these real-life superheroes. The project, which is featured on Bleacher Report, is solely funded by LeBron with long-time business partner and close friend Maverick Carter playing a key role, and today it was confirmed that Warner Bros. further cemented its support with a $15.8 million investment.
While still in its neophytic stages, Uninterrupted has some big plans for the future that include an animated show about Rob Gronkowski, but Warner Bros. obviously believes it can be more than cartoons and quick selfie-style videos from athletes. Given LeBron’s massive social media following, Uninterrupted could report on more than sports, but in music and fashion culture as well.
