Tuesday night, at a VIP event hosted by Stadium Goods in downtown NYC, a who’s-who of creators, curators and cultural icons got together to celebrate the unveiling of Urlfreeze News Magazine Volume Three. Featuring DJ Khaled on the cover, captured in all his Snapchatting glory by photographer Lindsey Byrnes, with an insightful cover story written by the one and only Miss Info, Volume Three brings for an unprecedented, elevated approach for storytelling and design in the world of sneakers.
“The book is a cultural document,” said Dallas Penn, who wrote this issue’s Hall of Fame piece on the Nike Mag. “It defines the sneaker culture and our best values. I’m just honored to have a contributor byline in the publication. It makes me want to write more.”
Those in attendance at the launch event who got a first glimpse at the magazine seem to agree. “Like the Vogue of sneaker culture, but it’s not just about footwear,” said Sugar Vendil, founder of the Nouveau Classical Project, who was in attendance with Kanye West “Freestyle 4” co-producer Trevor Gureckis. “There are so many great people who are featured in here.”
Volume Three features athletes, artists, writers and designers who disrupt the norm and change the rules, including Stephen Curry, DJ Clark Kent, Lauren Nostro, Jim Walrod, Chase N. Cashe, Karen Civil, Janette Beckman, Cey Adams, Nick Diamond, Nina Robinson, Andre Agassi, Ezra Wine, JBF Customs and more.
The print-only magazine is available online and shipping worldwide March 30, 2016. It will be carried by everyone on the forefront of culture, from the most respected art-book stores like McNally Jackson to major retailers like Barnes & Noble and high-end boutiques like KITH NYC, Kinokuniya NY, Extra Butter, Concepts and Bait. Take a look at the event, shot by photographer David X Prutting for BFA, as well as some exclusive glimpses inside the magazine.
