It’s been a busy few weeks for the adidas YUNG-1. Solebox recently unveiled their clean collaboration, and adidas Originals is also joining forces with frequent collaborator size? for an “Acid House” iteration that’s accompanied by a collaborative adidas Falcon.
The two-shoe pack is based around a specific smiley face design, a graphic that was originally used by the German government in the 1970s as part of a country-wide fitness initiative before British DJ Danny Rampling adopted the symbol at the beginning of London’s “Acid House” movement in the 1980s. The grinning yellow face went on to become one of the biggest signifying emblems of an era that was crucial to modern-day London culture, and now size? is drawing inspiration both from the logo and the “Acid House” era for their collaborative release.
Both shoes feature the same color palate of yellow, black, white, and grey, but utilize the combination in vastly different ways. The YUNG-1 goes the maximalist route, mainly swathed in bright yellow while accents arrive via grey, black, and white hits/trim on the heel, mudguard, forefoot, and tongue. The Falcon opts for a more scaled-back aesthetic, utilizing a white mesh base with grey and black overlays, while the bright yellow hits arrive on the midsole, outsole, and small hit of branding by the throat. Both shoes are then completed by the legendary smiley face graphic stamped on the insole. The “Acid House” pack will be available exclusively through the size? Previews app and in all size? stores August 24th, with the Yung-1 retailing for £100 while the Falcon offers a Pink point of £85.
