Taking to four iconic vans Platform models with youthful expression, London-based designer Ashley Williams is pushing playful motifs and bold prints with each individual iteration standing in contrast to the next. The Authentic, Era, Slip-On, and Style 93 tell a story of modified toolings as the overall design becomes more aggressive release start to end. Taking off with a piece more contemporary and arguably simple, the original classic arrives in a standard black accented by metallic rings across the heel counter and vamp. Doing away with punk Slip and entering something of more art focus, the padded variation exhibits mismatched prints with one of monochrome ceramics and the adjacent a pink-toned animal print. This maximalism extends into the laceless pair, matching up black and white prints in a style akin to DIY zines. While surely more adventurous than the rest, the strapped model — with an accentuated toe cap to boot — is subtle in pattern as it opts for a singular orange tiger print. Enjoy a detailed look of each pair below and expect a release to hit select retailers as well as Vans.com vans Platform Reissuing the Checkerboard Slip-On "Fast Times".
