Brands with the innovative resources as Nike are responsible for making dreams a reality. Such was the case with the creation of Adaptive Fit, the first “self-lacing” yet laceless mechanism that allowed for hands-free tightening and loosening of sneakers a la the Nike Mag. It was first brought onto the basketball court last January with the Adapt BB, and today the brand finally introduces the next iteration – the Adapt BB 2.0.
Designed by Ben Nethongkome (Kyrie 6, Kyrie 5, etc.), the Adapt BB 2.0 improves upon the 1.0 in several ways. The knee now feature fore-foot Zoom (the 1.0 just used Cushlon), the midsole stack height was reconfigured for better heel-to-toe movement, the detailing on the shoe has greatly improved, and most importantly, the shoe is easier to put on (the Adapt BB 1.0, despite its beauty, was a challenge to get on feet).
Nike confirms an official release date of Sunday, February 16th with an MSRP of $400; Ja Morant of the Grizzlies debuted the model on January 20th, while A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces will wear the model at the start of the WNBA season.
