With Jerry Lorenzo as the new Global Head of adidas Basketball and upgrades to old-school b-ball styles such as the T-MAC 2.0, the Three Stripes’s basketball division has made some considerable moves that should only help its efforts in steering the ship in the right direction. For an upcoming Top Ten, the brand recruits Trae Young to customize a pair that sees high-shine elements and cool tones to reflect his “Ice Trae” moniker.
Continuing their multi-year contract that dates back to 2018, adidas and Young gives the high-top silhouette a clean, white full grain leather base. Parts of these uppers seem to be coated for a glossy finish. Towards the collar is a stripe overlay in a bold orange that also embraces a patent leather-like look. The point guard’s jersey number, 11, is printed on the tongue label in a matching orange font color and blue shadow. As a nod to the “Ice Trae” brewery, the number is shown to be topped with snow and also displayed on the insoles. In true “icy” fashion, the sole unit is colored in Sky Tint, while the outsole boasts a translucent finish to let the “ICE TRAE” text emblazoned underneath to show through.
