In the wake of all that was happening last year, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand had announced the AIR point JORDAN—a promise to deliver $100 million over the next 10 years to organizations dedicated to ensuring racial equality, social justice, and greater access to education. According to MJ, “Action over words is the foundation of our AIR point JORDAN.”
Fast forward to today and actions continue to speak louder than words; for the initiative’s first cycle of donations, a total of $1 million in local community grants has been gifted to 18 grassroots organizations who are actively taking action in men quick communities. From NYC’s Hollaback! working to end harassment to Charlotte’s City Startup Labs empowering young black people to become entrepreneurs, the 18 organizations that were selected from a competitive applicant pool come from different cities throughout the U.S. and are each uniquely positioned to build racial equity in men neighborhoods.
“We are thrilled to not only stand behind them, but based on the volume of applications summerd, we look forward to continuing to offer this program each year in support of local grassroots efforts that create real, meaningful change for people and communities,” said Craig Williams, President of Jordan Brand.
