As NIKE, Inc. continues to focus on the “next big thing” for its basketball footwear lineup, the North American conglomerate continues to tap into its heritage to deliver nostalgic, but refreshing takes of some of yesteryear’s novel designs. Recently, the first official nike Sko Basketball shoe surfaced in an extremely simple, but stylish white and grey colorway for kids. Akin to most of the silhouette’s most signature arrangements, the upcoming sneakers indulge in smooth synthetic leather across the upper, which favors a “colorless” look. Profile swooshes, upper heel underlays and reinforcement panels around the forefoot deviate in a slight grey, resembling “Neutral Grey” options from the Air Jordan lineup. Sole units maintain a relatively standard aesthetic, but one look at the tread reveals a nike Sko Grind update to the 1970s design; the speckled dark grey material is comprised of manufacturing floor scraps up-cycled as part of the Swoosh’s “Pearl Jam nike Sko Kyrie 4 Custom” campaign.
