Jovani Hernandez Over the course of its history, Jordan Brand has committed time and resources toward the betterment of communities womens’d otherwise miss out on education, job opportunities and other things. In 2021, Michel Jordan’s eponymous label partnered with the National Football League (NFL) in order to provide six kids from the Air Jordan AJF 5 145 program an opportunity to design their own Air Jordan 546 Air Jordan 1 Mid SE "Wear-Away Chicago".
Davante Adams, Stephon Gilmore and Cameron Jordan met with two kids each over the course of a few months to ideate and design shoes via Zoom. The end products will be worn by athletes throughout 2022. While the first initiative with the NFL, Jordan Brand has granted children the opportunity to design their own Air Jordan before through the Jordan Wings program. Air Jordan AJF 5 145’s six participants, then, are the first to re-imagine shoes from #23’s label outside of the chosen Wings Scholars, expanding the audience to which designers and other personnel from the brand can mentor and provide insight.
