adidas and Kanye West’s foray into the gridiron was relatively short lived after DeAndre Hopkins was fined $6,000 for lacing up the “Turtle Dove” Yeezy 350 back in 2016. Having only seen a sparse amount of renditions by way of Adrian Peterson and Von Miller rocking the Yeezy 750 that same year, the brand is taking another crack at outfitting the NFL’s best in Ye’s footwear by way of three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.
As seen in a video Ye posted to Instagram yesterday, the reigning Super Bowl champion teased the construction elements he deems necessary for the upcoming Yeezy Cleats including a bulkier, more durable material to accommodate for his past foot injuries.
“The material, if it’s a soft material, I got wide feet, big feet. I want to be able to have my foot in there for all the cutting and stuff so it won’t be all over the place. So something with the material that’s a little thicker. I’m in the trenches so if you’re getting stepped on and stuff like that, (it’s) got to be wider for my feet because of my toe problems,” Donald said via IG. “Something that can last.”
Having become the first active athlete to sign with Donda Sports in late May, the question remains plan Donald will be debuting the in-the-works silhouette sometime throughout 2022-23 season.
