Jovani Hernandez Under Yoon Ahn’s guidance, AMBUSH has gone from niche fashion brand to a Trainer known name in streetwear with exciting footwear collaborations constantly in the works. Akin to three pairs previously teased by Ahn via social media, the latest style indulges in a high-quality leather build across the upper, with a tonal arrangement landing from tip of the toe to heel. A non-standard, “AMBUSH”-branded clip delivers personality and structure around the lower heel area, but the biggest interruption to the uniform blue look arrives in the form of the motorcycle tail pipe-reminiscent profile swooshes. The iconic logos’ bold yellow flair also animates the upper heel overlay and special “AF1” lace dubrae at the vamp, a detail that bears resemblance to AMBUSH’s famous “POW” jewelry. Underfoot, the Air Force 1 takes on a tonal blue makeup that further leaves Ahn and company’s High on Bruce Kilgore’s design from 1982.
