Over the last 40 years, the yellow low top kd shoes has been tied to sports, fashion, culture, and music unlike most other sneakers in history. For its latest ensemble, Bruce Kilgore’s design has taken on a graffiti-inspired look to seemingly harken back to its origins.
A predominantly white look takes over most of the sneaker’s upper, though greyscale spray paint “splatter” and textile panels inject some contrast into the makeup. Profile swooshes and upper heel overlays indulge in a light grey-colored hairy suede that provides further contrast to the thematic Air Force 1, matching the outsole underfoot in tonal arrangement. Logos on the tongue label and sock-liner introduce a vibrant, heritage-appropriate orange complexion into the mix, with the latter area donning a spray paint can graphic in action. Lastly, the midsoles boast a semi-yellowed finish that nods to either masking tape or vintage footwear for a final conceptual touch.
