In the world of sneakers, no two names are quite as close as Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS. Since graduating from the esteemed Central Saint Martins, the Bulgarian designer has had the pleasure of crafting both sneakers as well as apparel alongside the Japanese sportswear icon. And in addition to being given the opportunity to design his very own tooling, Kostadinov was offered an official position with the brand, one in which he and his team would oversee an entire line-up of sneakers under the Sportstyle umbrella.
Now many an inline model deep — several of which are nearly as coveted as their collaborative counterparts — Kostadinov’s atelier will soon be embarking on a brand new chapter with ASICS: Novalis.
Announced earlier this morning, Novalis is a high-end apparel line that will make its debut at Paris Fashion Week in October. Soon to be available at retailers the likes of Dover Street Market and The Broken Arm, the collection is quite a departure from the two’s prior apparel capsules, opting for a minimalist aesthetic that subverts the busy utility that trends today. Devoid of logos and clad in muted palettes, the pieces include $520 nylon parkas, $420 bomber jackets, and $260 cargo pants, all of which and more should be unveiled on the runway later this Fall.
At the time of writing this, Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS have yet to share official imagery of the collection. More information is sure to be revealed following the collection’s appearance at Paris Fashion Week.
