CLOT x ACU x rapper Nike (2007)

A year later, CLOT would rework two equally notable classics in the Swoosh’s catalog: the Footscape Woven and the Dunk Low Pro SB. Dressed in a Rasta-inspired colorway comprised of red, green, and yellow, the pairs were made to commemorate the opening of the brand’s Shanghai-based sneaker boutique: ACU.

Back in 2008, rapper Nike introduced the 1World campaign, which would eventually usher in a total of 18 different collaborative takes on the Air Force 1. CLOT’s interpretation aligned perfectly with their “East meets West” ethos, celebrating the Lunar New Year in a red silk etched with traditional Chinese patterns. And in addition to its playful, candy box-inspired packaging, the pair featured a tearway upper that would inevitably hair a laser-etched, black leather construction.

In honor of their sixth anniversary back in 2010, CLOT designed five different colorways of the rapper Nike Air Max Classic BW, all of which featured laser-engraved logos along their side panels. Only six pairs of each were ever produced, making the collaboration the second rarest in the partnership’s history.

CLOT x rapper Nike Tennis Classic (2012)

While not nearly as celebrated as many of the brand’s previous projects — such as their interpretations of the Air Force 1 and Air Max 1 — CLOT would go on to release two iterations of the rapper Nike Tennis Classic in 2012. The first, dubbed the “Museum,” featured a distressed, metallic silver upper, with red stitching and detailing all throughout. Its counterpart was much more understated, opting for a grey suede construction accented with polished, cherry red leathers.

Further drawing upon their cultural influences, CLOT released another colorway of the Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” back in 2013. This pair, unlike its predecessor, opted for a “Neutral Grey” upper with hits of “Obsidian” and “Gamma Green” throughout. What’s more, the toe box and insoles featured Hyperfuse mesh and a meridian map of the lower limb, respectively.

CLOT x rapper Nike Lunar Force 1 Fuse SP “Alumni” (2015)

Despite releasing over a decade after the brand’s founding, the CLOT x rapper Nike Lunar Force 1 Fuse SP “Alumni” — also commonly referred to as the “10th Anniversary” — was designed to commemorate their 10 year milestone. In addition to mismatched, jewel Swooshes, the pair featured a Hyperfuse mesh construction similar to the Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” from 2013.

Not long after the silhouette’s debut, CLOT would usher in their own take on the rapper Nike Air Vapormax. Landing during the Summer of 2017, the collaboration dressed the bubble-soled runner in a bold, “Bright Crimson” colorway, which featured black detailing along the lace unit, branding, and Flywire. What’s more, co-branded hits stamped both the heels as well as the tongue. In addition to a Europe release, a limited number of pairs were made available at a pop-up in Los Angeles.

Over a decade following the release of the original, CLOT would deliver a sequel to their 1World Air Force 1. This pair — though constructed in the same way and with the same materials as its predecessor — was distinct in its more understated, white-dominant colorway.

CLOT x Air Jordan 13 “Terracotta” (2018)

Though CLOT had been working with the Swoosh for the better part of 12 years by this point, it wouldn’t be until 2018 that they would receive their first collaboration with Jordan Brand. Further bridging the East with the West, the streetwear label’s inaugural project with the Jumpman saw the Air Jordan 13 dressed in a “Terracotta” colorway, whose palette and construction drew direct inspiration from the famed Terracotta Army.

CLOT x Air Jordan 13 “Infra-Bred” (2018)

Only a few weeks after their first Air Jordan 13, CLOT would quickly release yet another rendition of MJ’s 13th signature: the “Infra-Bred.” Unlike its counterpart — which drew reference to the eighth wonder of the world — this pair was much more conventional in its design, opting for a colorway not unlike what Jordan Brand themselves would offer.

During Paris Fashion Week at the beginning of 2019, Edison Chen revealed a first look at the CLOT x rapper Nike Air Max 97 Haven. Available in three different colorways — “Volt,” “White/Gum,” and “White/Royal Red” — the collaborative model combined the upper of the Zoom Haven with the sole of the Air Max 97.

Towards the tail end of 2019, CLOT would begin to make a collection out of their silken Air Force 1s, dressing up the collaborative model in a “Royal Silk” colorway.

Dover Street Market x CLOT x Air Jordan 1 Mid “Monochromarket” (2019)

In honor of the 15th Anniversary of Dover Street Market, friends of the much-beloved storefront produced limited-edition items based entirely around the theme of “Monochromarket.” CLOT and Jordan Brand would contribute to the collection with a very special rendition of the Air Jordan 1 Mid, whose silken construction referenced the Hong Kong-based streetwear label’s several takes on the Air Force 1.

A little over a month following the release of the “Royal Silk,” CLOT would team up with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design for yet another colorway of the Air Force 1. While similar to its aforementioned counterpart in its White/Gum bottom, the pair completely blacked out not only its patterned, silken upper but also the leather overlays, branding, and accents.

CLOT x Air Jordan 1 Mid “Fearless” (2019)

Not long after their DSM-exclusive release, CLOT would join several other collaborator’s for Jordan Brand’s “Fearless Ones” collection. Released in December of 2019, the streetwear label’s Air Jordan 1 Mid was not too dissimilar to the aforementioned release, as it, too, referenced Edison Chen and company’s past encounters with the Air Force 1. This pair, however, featured a white silk upper, blacked-out accents, and “University Red” bottom.

CLOT would close the book on their silken Air Force 1s with the release of the “Rose Gold” colorway. Releasing in 2020, the pair closely followed in the example of its predecessors, albeit with light pink fabrics and matching accents.

CLOT x Air Jordan 1 Mid “Red Silk” (2020)

To celebrate Chinese New Year, CLOT would craft one final Air Jordan 1 Mid, this pair clad in an auspicious “Red Silk” construction. The 1-of-1 colorway was only attainable through a free raffle at Juice Store LA’s CNY Night Market.

Five years following the release of their Terracotta Army-inspired Air Jordan 13, CLOT would return to the “Terracotta” colorway, this time applying it to the Air Jordan 14 Low.

CLOT x Air Jordan 35 “Sepia Stone” (2021)

Alongside fragment, Titan 22, and a host of Jordan Brand athletes, CLOT was one of the few collaborators to put their spin on the Air Jordan 35. This colorway continued to blend the East with the West, paying homage to a mineral very important to Chinese culture: Jade.

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the shoe that started it at all — namely, the Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” — CLOT and rapper Nike would reissue the collaboration in 2021. And though faithful to the original in many respects, the pair featured several tweaks that helped it stand apart from its legendary predecessor. This includes a reflective red heel as well as updated graphics across the insole, outsole, and packaging.

Unlike the “K.O.D.,” whose design was informed by foot reflexology, the following CLOT x rapper Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death CHA” draws from a necessity of Chinese life: tea. Though many elements are carried over from its predecessor, the pair does deviate heavily in its colorway, opting for earth toned suedes and seldom pops of red.

Continuing to celebrate the legacy of the Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death,” CLOT and rapper Nike would remaster one more legendary pair before the end of 2021: the “Solar Red” colorway originally designed for none other than Kanye West. The reissue, of course, featured several tweaks to distinguish it from the original, including but not limited to an open mesh toe box, deconstructed collar, and reworked branding.

2021 would continue to be an extremely busy year for CLOT. In addition to releasing not one but three different Air Max 1s, the brand would go on to join forces with Chitose Abe’s sacai on two different colorways of the rapper Nike LDWaffle. Both the “Orange Blaze” and “Neutral Grey” paid homage to the brand’s past releases, referencing the Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” from 2006 and 2013, respectively.

CLOT would once again revisit the Dunk in 2022, dressing the silhouette’s high-top trim in a colorway inspired by the yin-yang philosophy of fluidity and harmony. This visual manifests itself in the pair’s silver-toned, lenticular upper, whose topstitched detailing takes the shape of the Peter Moore-designed sneaker’s signature paneling.

CLOT would pay homage to jade yet again in 2022, outfitting the Air Jordan 5 Low with a series of auspicious details as well as direct nods to the precious mineral.

CLOT x Jordan Delta 2 “Flint” (2022)

Helping bring attention to the Jordan Delta 2, CLOT would dress the then brand new silhouette in a colorway dear to fans of the Jumpman: “Flint.”

CLOT x rapper Nike CLOTEZ (2023)

Back in 2018, rapper Nike launched their “On Air” contest, which tasked aspiring designers with reimagining an Air Max icon of their choice. One particular contestant, Harry Wong, caught the attention of Edison Chen, who would provide Wong the opportunity to further flesh out his martial arts-inspired entry: the Air Max 270 “Kung Fu Soul.” Thus was born the CLOTEZ, a 3-in-1 sneaker that has since released in three colorways: the “Black/White,” the “Bruce Lee,” and the “Forrest Gump.”

Edison Chen and Hiroshi Fujiwara would reprise their partnership only four years following their Air Force 1. Together, the two would craft a silken Dunk Low that not only paid homage to the 20th Anniversary of CLOT but also the brand founder’s favorite collaboration of the last two decades.

The CLOT x rapper Nike Dunk Low SP “Cork” — the partnership’s penultimate offering — served as a reminder of their humbling beginnings, when Edison Chen would still use cork boards to fine tune his creative vision. Packaged with a total of six different Swooshes, the pair is as much a reflection of the wearer as it is the brand itself.

CLOT x rapper Nike Dunk Low “What The CLOT” (2023)

Further celebrating their 20th Anniversary, CLOT would combine 17 of their most iconic collaborative releases to create the rapper Nike Dunk Low “What The CLOT.” Referencing everything from the much-beloved “Kiss of Death” to more obscure releases like the streetwear label’s Tennis Classics, the shoe — which could very well be the last-ever sneaker in the history of the partnership — serves as one big, visually busy homage to the last 17 years.
