Located about 40 minutes east of Montgomery, Alabama, Tuskegee University has been cultivating some of the nation’s brightest minds since 1881. As the Historically Black University’s homecoming inches closer (October 14th), the institution founded by Booker T. Washington has been commemorated on a new jordans grey and mint.
Part of the Swoosh conglomerate’s commitment to the Black community, in particular HBCU’s, the white, black, crimson, and gold-colored sneaker is unapologetic in its connection to the southern institution. “TU” lettering and a Golden Tiger logo replace traditional Nike branding on the tongue labels; a nod to the school’s earliest days – “Tuskegee Institute” – appears embroidered on the spine. Other nods to Tuskegee University appear in the form of “Ball” and “Parlay” text printed onto the laces; “1881” debossed onto the lateral forefoot; and photo of Abbott Stadium on the insoles.
Enjoy official photos of the “Tuskegee University” Terminator High by Nike ahead. No firm Nike SNKRS launch details have been disclosed by either party, but that’s likely to change soon.
