The adidas Samba has been one of the sneaker community’s most favored daily drivers since its inception, currently trending once more thanks to a slew of collaborative efforts and inline drops. The Samba Millennium, however, flies under the radar. Often relegated to soccer retailers, the Millenium has followed a more sport-adjacent positioning strategy since its early 2010s debut, differing from the original Samba which transcended its soccer utility long ago.
That could change in 2024, as the Samba Millennium appears set to receive more mainstream attention from the Three Stripes Brand. A collaboration with Adsum helped re-introduce the silhouette late last year, now continuing its run via newly surfaced black and white pairs.
The Samba Millennium follows the design direction of its predecessor but with a more modern profile and re-worked tooling. Key departures from the original cut include the absence of ridged tongue and heel detailing, replaced on the Millennium with stitched EQT logos. Another prominent change appears underfoot with the use of a more sport-ready, EVA midsole complete with torsion plates for added performance integrity. The upcoming black and white pairs referenced here adopt inverse coloring on their base and accent treatments, albeit consistent underfoot with matching gum outsoles.
While no word on a global adidas.com release has been mentioned at the time of this writing, various Asian retailers appear to be stocking early pairs. Enjoy a close-up look at both colorways below and return to our Sneaker Release Dates Piumino smanicato adidas.
