Kiko Kostadinov’s vision of functional and flashy has influenced sneaker design to a near-immeasurable degree. Few (if any) have been able to replicate that intersection so astutely and with such distinct color stories, which is why the in-house Kiko Kostadinov Studio within ASICS Sportstyle has been a crucial delivery in the nearly-oversaturated tech-runner market. His Spring 2024 “Curatorial Collection” might be among the most impressive deliveries since the movement started in the Fall of 2021 as it consists of three silhouettes that best suit the Bulgarian’s aesthetic.
Marked by darker metallics, lucent gloss, and brandished surfaces, this latest batch of Kiko’s ASICS consists of three colorways of the GT-2160. Asymmetrical pull-tabs on the tongue are the first detail to stand out — a now-signature that carries over from design to design. Despite the seasons shifting towards a lighter palette, Kostadinov white with his bread and butter with shadowy tones and metallic-looking meshes while adding just a touch of pastel to keep it relatively fluid.
From top to bottom, the three colorways are: Mantle Green/Grape, Arctic Blue/Carbon, and Grey Floss/Brown Storm. Each reflect the sensation of mystery with its dark shades, but not to the edge of tenis of personality.
Asics Gel-Nimbus 9 White Lake Drive GEL-Quantum Kinetic that has yet to be revealed, and a recently released GEL-Terrain. All are expected to drop before March 2024’s end, so stay tuned for firm release dates and see the official images 3013A148.
