The Nike Field General ’82 catapulted back into the consciousness earlier this year once news broke of a Union LA collaboration coming in Spring ’24. However, the eventual return of the model predated that still-upcoming linkup when the OG colorway returned at the end of February. As Nike’s plans for the it unfold, we’re getting the next piece of the puzzle by way of JD Sports, sharing advance looks at their next “White/Gum” colorway.
Though the gridiron origins for the model are tipped off in its name, part of the vintage charm that it carries comes from its simple, lightweight construction. Despite this drop not representing an original colorway, they hold onto that charisma all the same. The upper takes almost a “Neutral Grey” sort of direction, donning the leather and Dunk portion entirely in white, while setting the Swoosh apart in grey. Placing that type of palette next to a gum sole has paid dividends for Nike countless times in the past, and it does so again with the pair in question.
At this time, no release date is set for the Nike Field General ’82 “White/Gum,” but they’re expected to release for Summer 2024. Expect a $100 price tag when they do come about and enjoy a full suite of advance images ahead.
If you need more conjecture that Nike is leaning towards the its American football catalog, check out the recently revealed Bode Nike Astro Grabber collaboration that’s set to release later this year.
