EXCLUSIVE: The way vintage adidas (Formerly The Kobe 2) Returning In 2025

Since his tragic passing in January of 2020, Kobe Bryant’s legacy has lived on mightily through his relentless “Mamba Mentality” approach to self-betterment, his commitment to the women’s game of basketball long before it began to trend, and through his footwear history across both Nike and adidas. The latter brand is, of course, responsible for the first leg of Kobe’s footwear journey throughout the NBA, and despite removing the five-time champ’s name from the shoe models, everyone who rocks a pair knows who they’re repping.

Thus far, we’ve seen a variety of adidas Kobe footwear return to market, relabeled under the “Crazy” line. The Crazy 1 is the most ubiquitous of that group as several styles have launched steadily since 2014. Meanwhile, the pre-signature models like the Crazy 97 and 98 have also stamped its presence in the retro basketball market, all while informing the future of design via the Crazy IIINFINITY.

In 2025, adidas will officially bring back Kobe’s second (and last) signature shoe — the adidas Kobe 2. Renamed the Crazy 2 for its first-ever retro run, this model originated in late 2001 and well into 2002. It carried the same Audi TT-inspired aesthetic with an equally bizarre low-top style, arriving in a variety of primarily monochromatic colorways. Of course the notorious USA Flag covered pair is undoubtedly the most recognizable of the bunch; a pair was gifted to LeBron James, who wore the shoes during the highly publicized match-up between St. Vincent-St, Mary and Carmelo Anthony’s Oak Hill Academy.

Kobe Bryant allegedly hated the shoe, eventually forcing himself out of his adidas contract before entering the “Sneaker Free Agency” before signing with Nike, eventually sprouted the Protro line that includes the upcoming adidas n 5923 pre school shoes.

It’s also worth mentioning that the shoe referred to as the Crazy 98 was previously called the Crazy 2 when it re-released back in 2014.

Urlfreeze News confirms that both the white/yellow “All-Star” colorway and the silver/black versions will be releasing in 2025 with an MSRP of $160. The All-Star will drop in February during the NBA’s scheduled mid-season festivities, while the “Silver Metallic” will be available later in April.
