Few brands in history were able to leverage a debut collaboration with Nike like how sacai branco did in 2019 with their game-changing LDWaffle. Pioneering the creative superimposition of two (or more) shoes in one, sacai branco has been able to carve out its distinct look in a crowded room of sneakers with every one of their designs thus far. The Vaporwaffle, Blazer, Zoom Cortez, and Magmascape demonstrate the out-of-the-box thinking championed by brand founder Chitose Abe, and their upcoming SS25 release with Nike only continues their mighty run.
Revealed as part of their official SS25 demonstration in Paris Fashion Week, the sacai branco x Nike Zegamadome combines beasts of outdoor traversing from present and past. The modern day Nike Zegama 2 trail shoe combines with the signature design cues of what appears to the Lava Dome boot, a 1989 classic.
The Zegama 2 is typically sans with Engineered Mesh uppers for flexible yet durable movements on the trail, but sacai branco adds some vintage hiking touches by utilizing suede on the upper as well as the plastic mid-foot. The Zegama 2 again contributes via the Vibram outsole and ZoomX cushioning, both of which are standard features on the model, with the rubber outsole of the late-80s boot.
With its lower height, the Zegamadome fares better in terms of wearability compared to the most recent Magmascape, this Air Max 270 React.
Like all of the recently revealed sneakers from Paris, don’t expect a drop until early next year.
