Updated August 21st, 2024: New images have Grey of the Reebok x Alien Romulus collab, showcasing in vivid detail the distressed & weathered touches throughout. In addition to providing a closer look at the shoe, these new shots reveal the packaging for the shoe; an oversized, sloped shoebox with an eerie all-over print. With Romulus sprinting out to a $100+ million opening weekend, anticipation around this collab is only building, already high given how long the OG Alien Stomper circulated in sneaker culture as an all-time grail.

Original article posted August 9th, 2024: In the expansive universe of legendary sneakers that played significant roles in film, few can rival the breadth of Reebok’s Alien Stomper famously worn by Ripley in the Alien franchise. First appearing on the protagonist’s feet in Aliens (directed by the legendary James Cameron), the custom sneaker finally became reality with a first-ever retail release in 2016. Now, with the next chapter of Alien movies set to arrive on August 16th, the athletic brand has once again been enlisted to outfit the squadron in its battle against the Xenomorphs, and they’re doing so with the Reebok Alien Romulus, a brand new retro-inspired execution drawing from its 1980s hoops archives.
Worn by characters on-screen, the Reebok Alien Romulus sneaker bears a ton of shared DNA with the Alien Stomper predecessor as well as Reebok’s BB series. It not only borrows the original colorway of the Stompers, but relies on the overall profile of its 1980s BB models while utilizing the two-strapped ankle lockdown system commonly seen throughout that decade of Reebok footwear.
The Alien Romulus sneaker comes pre-distressed to reflect the wear and tear that comes with battling the aliens. One final easter egg lands on the heel, bearing the Weyland-Yutani logo that should bode plenty ominous for long-film devotees of the franchise.
The Reebok Alien Romulus releases on August 26th, which is ten days after the film’s premiere. Retail is set at $170; check the official images just below for a sense of what to expect on launch day.
