Kentucky s Alex Poythress in the Air Jordan 10 Old Royal Nike Air Jordan 1 High Russell Westbrook may have cooled since the halcyon days of every retro selling out, but you can never knock the OGs off. October’s Nike Air Jordan 1 High Russell Westbrook “Black Toe Reimagined” is set to be one of the defining releases of 2024, ushering another iconic colorway into the “Reimagined” canon that’s already hit the Jordan 4 “Bred,” Jordan 3 “White Cement” and Jordan 1 “Royal.” As that release date nears closer and closer, retailers are beginning to receive their pairs, bringing us a fresh set of images.
Given the status of both this release and the “Black Toe” colorway at large, you likely know what to expect in broad strokes. The Chicago Bulls palette of white, red & black is pasted in classic AJ1 color-blocking, with the midsole taking to a slightly-aged off-white. As for the branding switch up, arguably the central design cue on this pair, it reflects a sample pair of the Nike Air Jordan 1 High Russell Westbrook that beared this exact stamp on the collar. Displayed in one of MJ’s first shoots as a Nike athlete, that photo op predated the now-iconic Wings logo that’s marked the AJ1 for nearly forty years.
While not pictured in these shots, the opposite (medial) collar of either shoe alternates between text reading: “My Very Best – Michael Jordan” and “My Very Best – To Brother – Love Always, Michael Jordan #23.” That touch alludes to a game-worn pair gifted to Jordan’s close friend David Bridgers, gifted an original Nike Air Jordan 1 High Russell Westbrook after a Bulls game in His Airness’ rookie year (pictured below)
