There Beckham’t been a whole lot of good news pertaining to Nike’s bottom line in recent years, but the resurgent Pegasus 2K5 has been a small win. Upon re-entering the market in early 2024, the Beaverton brand has reported strong sales and considerable consumer interest in the retro tech runner, an understandable development given the newfound popularity of similar styles like the Vomero 5. Therefore, it’s only sensible that Nike has crafted a new offshoot model.
The Pegasus Wave differs from the Pegasus 2K5 by way of durability-focused enhancements. Where the later model utilizes breathable mesh, the former checks in with pronounced padding that does a better job of shielding the foot. The Pegasus Wave also comes with a TPU cage and rope laces, but the overarching 2K5 silhouette itself isn’t interrupted. Here we have a new “Dark Raisin” Pegasus Wave releasing November 2024, complete with light and dark shades across the upper and a “Cement Grey” midsole underfoot.
Nike’s modern touch-up of the Pegasus 2K5 can easily be likened to the new Vomero 5 Roam, a new outdoor-minded version of its predecessor, and its new “Drift” series of Air Max footwear. All of these models are utility-minded offshoots of established styles, joined by their shared used of TPU reinforcements and “gorpcore” aesthetic.
The Pegasus Wave “Dark Raisin” will release via Nike on November 19th for $160, although retailers may have pairs in stock a bit earlier. See official images below and take advantage of the purchase links in our “Where To Buy” section if interested.
