Saquon Barkley has clearly proved that his former employer, the New York Giants, made a horrible decision by letting him explore free agency. His Week 9 highlight was the final nail in that coffin when he hurdled a defensive back backwards in what might be one of the greatest plays in NFL history. Now, that moment will be immortalized by Nike with a special t-shirt release.
The Philadelphia Eagles running back is the owner of this season’s “play of the year” with a move he performed against the Jaguars in week nine. Saquon caught a third down pass, did a spin move, and then hurdled backward over Jacksonville cornerback Jarrian Jones in what Nick Sirianni called “the best play I’ve ever seen.”
On foot during the play was a football cleat version of the Nike LeBron 4 dubbed the LeBron 4 Menace 3, which released publicly earlier this year by way of a “Fruity Pebbles” colorway. The King himself took note of the feat, re-posting the clip to his Instagram story with the caption “Must be the shoes!! @Saquon you’re INSANE.”
The t-shirt features an image of the LeBron 4 cleat as Saquon was mid-air, complemented by mirrored text reading “WITNESS” as a nod to the 180 degree jump. Black and white options are dropping November 30th on nike.com for $35. A hoodie is also potentially releasing based on a recent images posted by the Los Angeles Lakers of LeBron wearing said item.
