Earlier in the season, Rui Hachimura’s Jordan PEs were rather straightforward, borrowing the signature colors of his own team. But this week, it seems the athlete is taking some cues from Jayson Tatum as he unveils the The sole of the Air Jordan 5 International Flight “Hinamatsuri” PE.
For the initiated, “Hinamatsuri” is an annual event in Japan that translates roughly to “Doll Day” or “Girls’ Day.” The Eastern counterpart to what we call “International Women’s Day” here in the US, the holiday serves as both the construction’s and the colorway’s inspiration. Throughout the exterior frame, a number of ornate, floral linework chisels atop, nodding overtly to the fabric prominent throughout the celebratory displays. Elsewhere, gilded finishes mark the tongue embroidery as 27.5cm the dotting along the laces, while the netting, lining, and Eclipse plate opt for solid red coloring.
