2020 was no doubt New Balance’s year. But what of 2021? Though they may have started off rather slow, the brand is quickly picking up the pace, linking up with Slam Jam once again for a very special 991.
Photographed by New York creative Katie Burnett, the pair — both in imagery and design — reflects the Slam Jam ethos, especially their concept of “(Un)corporate Uniforms.” The uppers don a palette rather muted, with black dyeing the leather/ripstop base as well as the rubbers that ornament the heel and tip. Adjacent, touches of silver reflective support the toe and collar, while also matching the finish of the metallic “N” logo. Bi-color soles, then, outfit underneath, a bevy of shoelaces — grey, black, or red — bring options alongside, and custom translucent lace locks deliver the Slam Jam name in unique fashion.
What’s more, the two will issue a wearable set inclusive of both a waterproof anorak and relaxed fit track pant.
