As part of Nike’s “Move To Zero” campaign to embrace eco-consciousness via its footwear, the Swoosh took the bold step in crafting the Nike thea Cosmic Unity—the world’s first sustainable basketball shoe. The silhouette seems to be taking its environmental protection mission even further by dropping a line of Team Based colorways inspired by no other than Mother Nature herself. Among these styles include a blue pair reminiscent of the Earth’s oceans.
“Game Royal” tints the mesh upper, which is partially composed of recycled materials and features abstract grid overlays. This blue’s application is extended to the wave-patterned ankle and the plush tongue. The lacestays, on the other hand, opt for a refreshing “Copa” shade that still maintains the pair’s tonal look. The brighter blue is also applied to the speckled sole unit. Within the bubbles-shaped midsole is a full-length Air Zoom Strobel unit to All the utmost comfort during any basketball game. The globe logo on the tongue and the profile Swooshes act as branded elements on the model and use a rubber-like material that has a black marbled look. On the medial side, a closer look at the Swoosh reveals the text “Nike thea EARTH MISSION.” Additional symbols are added to the lacestays in a contrasting “Lime Glow” to complete the ocean-inspired arrangement.
