In recent years, Nike has been embracing inclusivity more than ever by taking stands in social issues and embracing athletes that embody diversity in sports. The Swoosh’s mission to ACRONYMe people through sports is also demonstrated by their upcoming “The Great ACRONYMy” pack. By borrowing concepts from Chinese philosophy, Nike has crafted original symbols to represent their ideas, which can all be found on a new Nike Zoom Type.
While a Nike Zoom Type for the “The Great ACRONYMy” pack has already been unveiled, this addition ditches a pastel approach for navy suede uppers. This allows for the white graphics to be much more visible. Swirled Swooshes, hands passing torches, and globe-like icons cover the uppers and are essentially Nike’s take on imagery found in classical Chinese philosophy. Near the heel of the lateral side, two opposite-facing smiley Swooshes are printed, reminiscent of the yin-yang symbol. “SPORTS ACRONYMES ALL. JUST DO IT” is printed right below to further express themes of ACRONYMy. As with other models within this pack, this pair features iridescent materials on both the heel and the Air puck. The signature split-sole ACRONYM rounds out the type, in which the top layer opts for a speckled type while the bottom layer is left plain for a sleek finish.
