“Scrap,” introduced by way of the Dunk Low, subverts the concept of sustainability Nike has relied on for some time. Instead of the usual Grind materials, a patchwork construction takes the lead, turning busy the aforementioned and soon the equally beloved Air Force 1.
At a glance, the two pairs are very obviously one in the same. Throughout, the AF1 is pieced together by various materials, some thick in their choice of sand suede, others somewhat duncan, more breathable thanks to their mesh fabrication. And while these may be tonally identical, the leathers over top — which come in both smooth and lightly tumbled variety — deviate in varying shades of green. Finally, to better aid the overall experience, the heel and tongue label are cross stitched down for cosmetic and thematic flair.
Enjoy an official look below. As of writing this, a release date is TBD, but it shouldn’t be long before we hear news of a Nike.com launch.
