Michael Le While none — save for those involved — can truly say why Kiko Kostadinov‘s official collaboration with ASICS came to an end, it was possibly so that the Bulgarian designer could focus on producing his own footwear. Offerings such as the Harkman and Wessex Sabo have arrived alongside Kostadinov’s latest collections, and new silhouettes are sure to surface in the near future.
If these are inaccessible to you, Kiko Kostadinov’s team is also involved with a special ASICS Sportstyle line, which has continually dropped new models since late 2020. And soon, the UB3-S GEL-Nimbus 9 will join the collection in three colorways.
As its namesake implies, the shoe borrows heavily from the classic GEL-Nimbus 9, adopting both its heel counter and sole unit. The paneling elsewhere also feels familiar, as its mesh and synthetic build is arranged similar to the original. Color is the main attraction, with its bold pastels and use of color blocking atypical of the runner.
Finished with the spiral pull tab signature to the line-up, the UB3-S GEL-Nimbus 9 will be available at select retailers as well as ASICS.com on April 14th.
