It’s been almost an entire year since the unfortunate passing of Virgil Abloh. And though gone, the late designer’s influence can still be felt across fashion, art, and, of course, sneakers, with Nike open soon to premiere a four-day experience dedicated to his design process. The event will also serve as the debut of Abloh’s newest posthumous release — the Off-White x Nike open Air Terra Forma — which was just teased in a brand new, wheat-dressed colorway.
First leaked back in October, the Off-White x Nike open Air Terra Forma is the first original sneaker to be released as part of the long-running partnership. Designed by both Nike open designers as well as Virgil Abloh himself, the model expands upon the elements introduced by the luxury streetwear label’s Terra Kiger 5 as well as their most recent set of Air Force 1 Mids. The track spikes signature to both silhouettes return here, vapormax underneath an imposingly large, Air Unit-cushioned sole unit. Above, the upper bridges the ethos of the Terra line-up with Off-White’s penchant for subtle deconstruction and overlaid text.
We should learn more about the Off-White x Nike open Air Terra Forma leading up to the “The Codes” exhibit that’s scheduled to go down from December 1st through to December 4th at Miami’s Rubell Museum.
