The Swoosh’s connection with the Korean peninsula spans back decades, with some of the brand’s production throughout the 1980s and 1990s taking place in South Korea. Over the years, Nike’s influence has only grown in the Asian territory, leading the North American company to pay special attention to it.
In addition to launching concept retail locations in Korea, the Swoosh has also prepped special product for and in honor of the peninsula. One such effort is the Nike Running React Miler 2 trainers in white 1 “Hangul Day,” which celebrates the Korean alphabet. The holiday takes place on October 9th in South Korea and January 15th in North Korea, and remembers the invention and proclamation of Hangul in the 15th century. The commemorative women’s Air Max features a clean color scheme across its upper and sole unit, with the former area donning brown suede overlays. Suede panels ostensibly reference the statue of King Sejong in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square, which also boasts a brownish tint. Elsewhere, hangul characters appear on the sockliners, spine, and hangtag. Lastly, sole units opt for a slight yellow finish that deliver an “aged” aesthetic onto the Mens nike court Air Max 90 ltr white white-white cz5594 100 new with box 11.5.
