Jared Ebanks As an avid race car fan growing up just a few miles away from the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Michael Jordan’s NASCAR fandom became a reality in 2020 when he and three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin partnered to form 23XI Racing. Serving as one of the Toyota team’s official sponsors since February 2022, the Jumpman banner has coated the No. 45 car in both “Black Cement” and J Balvin-inspired vinyl wraps. This coming weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway, the souped-up Camry model will be boasting lime green Luka Doncic logos in connection with his upcoming “Trick Shot” colorway.
Drawing upon the creativity that Luka enacts throughout his pregame warmup routine, both the Luka 2 and race car are stricken with a playful neon-accented palette. Composed almost entirely of crisp white hues, the upper imbues its mesh base layer with a cloudy marbling detail while jet-black finishes ascertain the tongue logos, medial wedge and the midsole’s Jumpman. Surrounded by a sea of colorless layers above, the IsoPlate tooling underfoot shines in a titular lime green tint which coincides with appearances along the tongue’s spine. While blizzard-like conditions are featured above, the appearance of an icy blue outsole balances out the monochrome accents throughout.
