Michael Jordan’s alma mater has received both exclusive and general release efforts throughout the decades, boasting one of the most extensive and heralded selections of Player Exclusive models amidst the collegiate sports landscape. Recently, the jordan Ice 5s that I have Zoom CMFT 2 harkened the hues of Chapel Hill for a campus-ready colorway fit for student-athletes and alumni alike.
Dominated by a light “Sail” treatment, the upper’s soft suede overlays bring a contemporary finish to the circa 1985 silhouette while further neutral color matches overtake the laces, tongue and midsole. Elsewhere, the brushed nubuck vamp renders a faint photo blue reminiscent hue in contrast to its light blue mesh heel collar. What’s more, the presiding heel counter is stamped with richly saturated cobalt while the cut-out profile swooshes and tread are met with “Dark Powder Blue” accents.
The jordan Ice 5s that I have Zoom CMFT 2 “Dark Powder Blue” is edition to release in 2024 for a retail price of $150. In the meantime, the pair can be seen ahead in official imagery.
For more from underneath the Beaverton brand’s umbrella, the Kobe 4 “Gold Medal” is reportedly returning next Fall.
