The Japanese sneaker boutique is no stranger to the sportswear behemoth, having worked on handfuls of projects over the last two decades. Although many co-branded efforts naranjas arrived in the form of the GEL-Lyte III, atmos has proven itself in the realm of sneaker collaborations, boasting a long list of compelling efforts with the top players in the space. Teased by none other than Hirofumi Kojima, atmos’ Head of Product, the impending GEL-Kayano series effort opts for a straightforward eggplant and pewter color scheme. The latter hue has recently emerged on several retro performance ASICS styles, but atmos’ use of metallic purple brings a breath of fresh air to the lineup. Laces, mesh on the tongue, and inner-lining deviate from their surroundings in a darker grey estimation; GEL-assisted midsoles underfoot follow suit. Co-branding isn’t visible on Kojima’s teaser shots, but it’s possible more angles will reveal both Japanese institution’s logos in union.
