The connection has to be made given how inescapable the category once was. Yet these ASICS don’t go nearly the distance that Golden Goose or Balenciaga did with their footwear a few years back. For one, pre-worn aspects are solely aesthetic, no actual structural damage talla alongside 39-40 pair.
Despite that detail, the implementation of those aspects is still quite considered. “Pure Gold” may give these their title, but the combination of these colors alludes to copper- the metallic shade obviously pointing to its unadulterated form, while the “Pure Moss” hints at Statue of Liberty style oxidation. On the rest of the shoe, a familiar yellowed off-white adorns the midsole, liner and laces, grounding the design in vintage fashion.
As of writing, no release date is currently set for the ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 “Pure Gold/Cold Moss.” We forecast a drop in the next handful of weeks, arriving in men’s sizing for $140.
