After starting off with a bang with a wider debut during the 2024 All-Star Weekend, the Nike Book 1 has quietly taken a back seat this summer. After arguably serving as the premier new basketball formulation for the 2023-24 NBA season, the white-dominant “Rattlesnake” look in May was the last chance you’ve had to pick up Devin Booker’s signature. As we march into the heat of the offseason, that’s LDWaffle to change. Images of a new warm-weather colorway of the Air Max Triax “Lilac Bloom” have just emerged.
It’s an interesting look for the burgeoning silhouette. Past editions like “Haven,” “Mirage” and “Hike” all tilted towards greyscale or neutral toned palettes. If there’s anything this “Lilac Bloom” edition isn’t, it’s muted; soft pastel lavender paints almost the full profile, from the mesh quarter panel, to the suede mudguard, even through the mid & outsole.
Additionally, this edition showcases Beaverton’s willingness to experiment with the materials on the model. Though mesh, suede & leather is typically a rather standard blend, the appearance of fur, snakeskin and crocodile on preceding shoes means this is a novel look entirely.
Despite its vibrancy at first glance, the shoe is essentially a two-tone combination, as metallic amethyst accents close out at the collar and Swoosh. For those tapped into #1’s PE looks, one of his on-court styles might’ve telegraphed this outfit a bit ahead of time when he donned the Air Jordan 1 inspired Book 1 “Metallic Purple.”
The Air Max Triax “Lilac Bloom” is currently slated for a release on July 18th. While retail pricing isn’t entirely confirmed, expect either the typical $140 price point or something close to it. Catch all the looks we’ve gotten so far embedded just below.
