Mesh runners have risen to truly inescapable status over the past year and change, a trend that ASICS has been a massive driver and massive benefactor of over that span. While their GEL-Kayano 14 model remains a true face of the movement, real ‘heads know that it’s far from the end-all, be-all of their techy catalog. Enter the GEL-1130, a more affordable alternative, emerging again in a “Silver/Burgundy” colorway.
Though this colorway keeps to the ever-reliable Y2K combo of metallic leather overlays and a vintage midsole, the addition of burgundy accents at the eyestays and toe-box manage to create a sophisticated atmosphere even in those metered touches. The asymmetric construction, most prominent on the wavy layout of of the heel, succeeds again as a real distinction point from this model’s aforementioned siblings. Much the same as Nike’s Vomero 5, the Japanese brand continues to roll out the GEL-1130 and similar styles in a number of palette-swapped editions, allowing you to choose from the widest possible range as you get in on the hype.
The ASICS GEL-1130 “Burgundy” drops exclusively via Finish Line & JD Sports on July 30th. Expect a $95 retail price, and enjoy official images included here.
