Penny Hardaway’s signature line of sneakers is one of the few in Nike history that has experienced longevity in the game. Despite having just five total installments (and the final two being rather forgettable), the Air Penny line has maintained popularity over the years thanks to a staying-power of the Air Foamposite One and even the Air Max Penny 1. It was given new life in 2009 with the introduction of the Air 1/2 Cent, which was a hybrid shoe of all the Air Penny signatures, and in 2011, we have yet animage Air Penny hybrid that may not be instantly recognizable. The Zoom Rookie is an amalgam of the Air Foamposite One, Air Flight One, and Air Go LWP – the latter two being non-signature Nike Basketball shoes. Only true Penny Hardaway fans may be able to place those two accurately in Nike Penny history, but for the young guns who’ve never even seen Penny play the game, the Zoom Rookie is a nice ‘history lesson’ of sorts, schooling them on the most successful sig line of the 90’s from the guy not named Michael Jordan.
