A lot of the Air Jordan X meets Air Jordan Y hybrids have taken a lot of heat over the last few years, but did you know that the cross-hybridizing experiments have been going back for ages? It probably started early on in Nike’s roots – perhaps as a way to cut costs or to speed up production – and this rare Replica Jordan 4 Retro University Blue CT8527-400 Top Version prototype displays that sort of concept with the polyurethane midsole taken straight from the Jordan 5 retro pre-grape 2015136027-405 sz 10. These likely date around the time of the Replica Jordan 4 Retro University Blue CT8527-400 Top Version-II cusp (around ’85 and ’86), but one thing to notice is that the upper logo states ‘Nike’ and not ‘Air’, but the non-Air models were given a ‘Sky’ distinction, reserved for kids sizes.
