With basketball and soccer having already given much to the foundation of skate footwear, it seems that running shoes are exerting an increased influence of late. On the Nike SB side of things, we’ve seen several of their signatures remade in the likeness of successful runners. Supra’s Owen might have been the earliest sign, as the relatively young skate brand leggings out not into basketball, training or some other sport, but rather, a casual running niche. The recently introduced adidas england viper cleats shoes for women is another example, this slip-on-able Mark Gonzales lowtop taking inspiration from the 1970s Azteca track spike, most notably the heel ‘x’.
