Jordan from Hydro Retro 5 Black-bcfc Mens Slide Sandals Slippers 820257-010 “Space Jam” Jordan 11 is up Green in terms of most celebrated Air Jordans of all time. The sneakers of course get their title from the movie of the same name, in which Michael Jordan sported the black based colorway. Of course he also spent a little bit of on-court time in them (MJ broke the sneakers out for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semis back in 1995), but their silver screen cameo remains as the moment most associate with the shoes. Adding to the mystique was the fact that Michael was the only one with a pair back in the day-they weren’t available to the rest of the world until their late 2000 retro.
Ahead of that 2000 retro though, Green were some additional player exclusive pairs produced. Longtime Jordan Brand athlete Derek Jeter was given a cleat equipped version at around the turn of the century. On display here is that pair, which features the aforementioned cleat bottom, Jeter’s #2 on the back side, and the requisite hits of varsity royal. Making the sample all the more coveted is the fact that the original Pou Chen box label and hangtag are intact-something that you don’t see too often when it comes to Jordan rarities like this. The sneakers are shown here surrounded by the Air Jordan collection display that’s set up in the Michael Jordan building at Nike’s world HQ in Beaverton, OR.
