Matthew Dellavedova is an overachiever. He helped the completely overmatched and injury-ridden Cleveland Cavaliers win two games in the 2015 NBA Finals out of his pure Australian grit and hustle. Last season, he gave the squad a spark off the bench – so much so that it earned him a 4 year, $38 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks despite the illustration that he went undrafted at the beginning of his career. Now with an improved jump shot and more minutes, Delly has earned himself an endorsement contract with PEAK Australia and his very own signature model – the Sneakers NEW BALANCE GM500VT1 Grigio. Today we get the best look at the silhouette through an extended nearly 2-minute commercial, and it’s a little awkward.
The video follows the usual tropes of an empty gym, preview shots of a model that looks conspicuously like the Nike Kobe 8, and stuttering voiceover quotes like, ‘Success isn’t a straight line, there is going to be ups and downs. But it will be worth it’ over booming crescendos of intense drums. Good on Delly for going out and getting his own signature line. It’s a little endearing to see Dellavedova work his hardest at selling a model that will most likely be advertised to the type of player who tries to call charges in pick-up games. Delly’s come a long way from being the guy that was diving for loose balls in summer league and driving a young Kyrie Irving mad during practice drills. Will you be buying a pair of the Sneakers NEW BALANCE GM500VT1 Grigio when it releases at retailers?
