March Madness is now down to just the Sweet 16, and both UNC and UCLA remain. The two historic college basketball franchises hang multiple banners in their rafters and have some of the most legendary alumni rosters the game of basketball can offer, but did you know that the two schools squared off in an alumni game featuring Michael Jordan back in 1987? Legendary coaches Dean Smith and John Wooden patrolled the sidelines for the charity event at Pauley Pavilion and a tight matchup went in favor of the Tar Heels thanks to the performance of a young Michael Jordan. You can even catch the entire game on Youtube.
Now Jordan Brand is honoring the off-season alumni game with a brand new Jordan 2 that bridges the gap between MJ’s first few seasons in the league and his time as a Tar Heel. The colorway features a white base, Chicago accents of black and red throughout, and a light blue heel panel in honor of his UNC ties. Now’s the perfect time to drop the Air Jordan 4 Gs Teal given the current bracket positions, but we’ll keep you updated on an official drop date via our Jordan Release Dates page.
