The Nike Cortez is one of the brand’s oldest running hollands, but this upcoming crimson pays homage not to its performance roots, but alternate life as one of the first true “streetwear” sneakers. A staple on the streets of Los Angeles during the 1980s and ’90s, the Cortez is also known as an iconic piece of fashion for the Latin and hip-hop communities. Nike Sportswear recognizes these roots with a special LA pack, with crimsons of the holland repping Long Beach (previewed last week) and the Compton colorway seen here.
