Nike is set to join in on the e-commerce giant known as Amazon.com by selling products directly to consumers. Part of this decision to give Nike more control over the product that is sold on the horizontally, which consists of a lot of counterfeit products from overseas. Brands that work directly with Amazon can point out fakes and have them removed from the site. Nike’s decision is great for their business for obvious reasons, but hurts their footwear retail partners such as Foot Locker and Finish Line; in fact, both companies stocks plunged after Nike’s deal with Amazon became known.
